Good Morning Britain star Charlotte Hawkins confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing: ‘I am so thrilled’

Charlotte Hawkins said she is “thrilled” to be the eleventh celebrity to be confirmed for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The Good Morning Britain presenter unveiled herself on Monday’s breakfast show, before twirling across the studio with entertainment reporter Richard Arnold.

Speaking to Kate Garraway and Jeremy Kyle she said: “I've kept it a secret from everyone, I'm really sorry to my friends and family.

“I was saying like ‘in my dreams, I wish!’ So, surprise!”

Hawkins – who said she will “try” and fly the flag for Good Morning Britain – was presented with a survival kit by her co-stars to prepare her for the gruelling schedule ahead.

“Thank you for all the support,” she said. “This is setting me on the way now. The excitement’s really beginning. It doesn’t feel like it’s really happening until people know.”

The news was also confirmed on the show's official Twitter account, with Hawkins adding: “I am so thrilled to be one of the contestants on Strictly this year! I've always been a big fan of the show.
