Good Morning Britain star Richard Arnold falls through deckchair mid-interview – blames it on ‘Christmas weight’

Richard Arnold was left red faced after he fell through a deckchair on Good Morning Britain.

Arnold, 48, was interviewing the cast of Benidorm to celebrate the show’s 10 year anniversary when the chair he was sitting on broke.

The entertainment reporter was talking to actress Janine Duvitski, who plays Jacqueline Stewart, about what’s it’s like when the cast enjoy nights out together.

Duvitski said: “Well, I am so bad [at karaoke]. It’s a bit weird when we all go out together. People are sort of like, ‘Oh my gosh’.”

Arnold leaned back as he laughed at the comment before falling through the material and onto the floor below.

Duvitski couldn’t stop laughing and joked: “You should do comedy!”

Viewers were left in hysterics over the embarrassing blunder, with one saying they were in “stitches”.

Arnold blamed his “Christmas weight” on the fall as he assured fans he too had seen the funny side.

Posting a picture of himself in the broken chair on Instagram he wrote: “When they say it’ll be alright on the night @GMB... and you’re apparently still carrying a bit of Christmas weight.

“Celebrating a decade of #benidorm @ITV with stars #janinedivutski @sherrie.hewson & @juliegraham - supporting 50:50 gender equality in this business we call show. A great cause and I sincerely hope it gets more support than I got from my deckchair.”

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6am
