Good Morning Britain viewers witness ‘surreal moment’ as Zippy is interviewed live

Good Morning Britain frequently features an eclectic range of guests - but viewers got a surprise when a veteran TV star popped up at the top of today’s show.

The episode saw Richard Arnold interviewing none other than Zippy, alongside the tagline ‘Puppets on Furlough’.

The tongue-in-cheek segment covered the impact of the closure of theatres on puppets, who have been left out of work.

After a video message from Basil Brush - who was keen to remind viewers he is, of course, actually a real fox… - Arnold, 50, geared up for the main event.

His colleague Charlotte Hawkins tweeted a behind-the-scenes snap of the chat on Twitter, admitting that she was finding the whole thing pretty “surreal” and fans soon shared their amusement too:

Earlier this week, GMB presenter Ranvir Singh revealed that she'll be following in Susanna Reid's footsteps by becoming the next member of the team to appear on Strictly Come Dancing.

Singh, 43, shared the news during Tuesday's episode.

The full Strictly line-up is yet to be revealed but bosses have confirmed that Clara Amfo and Bill Bailey will be among those attempting to impress the judges.

Nicola Adams will also make history by becoming the first contestant paired with a same-sex partner.
