Google Buys Domain Name Made Up Of Entire Alphabet

Google has purchased the preposterously long abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.com domain name after recently creating a new parent conglomerate called Alphabet.

Taking no chances following the restructure, Google appears to be snapping up as many relevant domain names as possible, having launched the new Alphabet brand in August.

The new parent company launched on the web address ABC.xyz with Google clearly unable to wrangle the alphabet.com address away from BMW or purchase from ABC.com from the news network of the same name, notes Domaininvesting.com.

The abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.com address was originally created back in 1999 and appears to have been privately owned and not used since. Google has not divulged how much it had to pay to nab it.

Google’s newly acquired site currently has no content on it, so it’s likely that it’ll just be used as a placeholder for Alphabet in future, probably redirecting straight to the main site.
