Google Maps Adds A Street View Surprise for ‘Legend of Zelda’ Fans

Google Maps has introduced a treat for fans of ‘The Legend of Zelda’ games on Street View today, in the form of lead character Link.

The tiny yellow Pegman that users drag onto the map to fire up Street View currently looks like the video game series’ elf-like lead character.

Wearing his trademark green hat and tunic and brandishing a sword, the tiny Link icon can be dropped onto the map just like the normal Pegman.

Nintendo UK tweeted an image of the Link on Google Maps with the words: “It’s dangerous to go alone. The browser version of Google Maps has a familiar fellow to help you along today”.

The Zelda-themed Pegman makeover is thought to be in celebration of today’s release of ‘The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD’ on the Nintendo Wii U.

This isn’t the first time that Google has given Pegman a makeover for a special occasion.

On the 81st anniversary of the famous ‘Surgeon’s photo’, which later turned out to be fake, Google introduced a tiny Loch Ness Monster character to helps users around Street View.
