GOP Maine State Representative Likens Governor to Nazi 'Angel of Death' Josef Mengele

Maine State Representative Heidi Sampson likened the state’s Governor, Janet Mills, to Nazi doctor Josef Mengele on August 18 for announcing a vaccine mandate for healthcare workers in Maine.

Sampson made the remarks during a protest in front of Maine State House.

“Do I need to remind you of the late 1930s and into the 40s in Germany," Sampson asked at the event. “And the experiments with Josef Mengele. What was it? A shot. And these were crimes against humanity. And what came out of that? The Nuremberg Code. The Nuremberg Trial. Informed consent is at the top and that is punishable… violating that is punishable by death.”

Her remarks were streamed on Facebook by Rep Shelley Rudnicki.

In line with Mills’s mandate, announced on August 12, healthcare providers in Maine will require their workers to get the vaccine against Covid19 by October 1.

Sampson also likened the mandate to the Tuskegee experiments, a study as part of which black men were left untreated for syphilis for 40 years and for which then-President Bill Clinton issued an apology in 1997. Credit: Representative Shelley Rudnicki via Storyful
