Gordon Ramsay says he is as nervous about catering for some of the biggest names in showbusiness at the GQ Men of the Year awards as he was making Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday feast.

The chef, below, whose venue Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea has held three Michelin stars since 2001, will cater for 700 at the event, it was revealed today.

In previous years, Prince Charles, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Cara Delevingne, Harry Kane and Tom Hanks and Eddie Redmayne have been among the guests.

Ramsay, 52, told Insider “the pressure is on” for the awards, hosted by actor Michael Sheen. “I cooked lunch for Nelson Mandela’s 90th and this is on par with that,” he said. “The whole world is at that event. So you don’t want to f*** it up. It has to be the most glamourous banquet ever.

"I will be a swan … serene on the surface gliding about with all those famous people and f***ing kicking away frantically beneath the surface.”

He will serve canapés of lobster taco and fish pie before a starter of Dorset crab and apple, beef Wellington for main course, and a Grand Cru 75 per cent chocolate dessert.

The awards will take place on September 3 at Tate Modern in association with Hugo Boss.
