Gossip: Pogba's agent 'seeks Man Utd exit', Maguire 'snubs Man City', West Brom 'consider Potter'

Transfer trouble? Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba could be torn apart by Pogba’s agent, according to reports
Transfer trouble? Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba could be torn apart by Pogba’s agent, according to reports

Here’s a deal for you. International footballer, 24 years old, gifted, a “character”, French, very nice hair, occasionally phones in sick but, overall, an absolutely terrific boy. Yours for £100m, give or take. Interested?

If the answer is yes, then you have a different opinion to the numerous top European clubs who – in recent days – have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Paul Pogba and said, “No thanks”.

Or so claim the Soccer Guys at American publication Sports Illustrated, which alleges that the Manchester United midfielder’s agent Mino Raiola (sorry, “super-agent”) has spent the week calling Europe’s elite to try to persuade them to “go after” Pogba in the summer transfer market. But sadly for him, “nobody is biting”.

SI’s information for this scoop apparently comes from “a source with firsthand knowledge”. Firsthand knowledge of what, we don’t know. It’s probably Bob Bradley.

They also add that one of the clubs who snubbed Raiola “also pursued Pogba two years ago” and now feel like they “dodged a bullet” by not signing him. Chelsea and Manchester City were strongly linked at the time, but basically this could be anyone.

It’s also worth remembering that Raiola earned an alleged £41m from Pogba’s last transfer, so he is probably calling up chairmen asking if they want to buy his client every single day.

Maguire turns down Guardiola

In an uplifting tale from the Sun, the in-demand Leicester City defender Harry Maguire has reportedly “committed his future” to the Foxes despite being linked with a £50m move to Manchester City.

Hazza is apparently ready to “disappoint Pep Guardiola” by turning down the chance to earn more money and play in the Champions League because he thinks Claude Puel’s side are “on the up and he wants to be part of it”. What a nice lad. Bet he stays at the King Power Stadium forever and ever now. Lovely.

In similarly heart-warming loyal centre-back news, the Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez says he has no interest in sealing a big-money move to Real Madrid.

The Mirror says the Colombian has “played down” interest from the European champions and insists he won’t be “lured by money”. What a nice lad. Bet he never moves anywhere for money for the rest of his career now. Gorgeous.

Meanwhile, West Brom are “keeping a close eye” on Osterunds manager Graham Potter and could approach the 42-year-old Englishman as a replacement for under-pressure Alan Pardew (Mail).

Potter is apparently happy in Sweden and will “only consider a move to English football at a club with genuine Premier League opportunities”. The Baggies better be quick then.

Elsewhere, Man Utd are keen on Croatian “wonderkid” Nikola Moro, who has been dubbed “the new Luka Modric” (Talksport), Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco is close to joining Chinese side Dalian Yifang for £26.4m (El Pais) and Gary Cahill is in danger of losing of his place in England’s World Cup squad after being dropped by Chelsea (Times). Oh maaan, how on earth are England supposed to win a World Cup without Gary Cahill??
