Kit Harington is so afraid of the original, unaired Game of Thrones pilot being leaked that the show's creators can use it to keep him well behaved.

The original pilot was filmed long before Harington and his character, Jon Snow, became synonymous – but, unbelievably, their first crack at one of the world's biggest shows didn't go too well.

"They made a lot of mistakes. It didn't look right, didn't feel right, had nothing different about it," Harington told The Guardian.

Harington has never seen the pilot all the way through, but he's still convinced it's so bad that he doesn't want it ever leaking to the public – something the show's creators, DB Weiss and David Benioff, use to their advantage.

"They say, if I ever piss them off too much, they'll release it on YouTube. Every now and then, they send me a screengrab, just as a threat."

While the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones won't be shown on TV until maybe 2019, work on the climax of the series has already begun – and Harington is said to "know everything" about where the characters are heading.

The read-through of the final episode took place earlier in October, he revealed on The One Show, and while he's stated many times that he's ready for the series to end, he's still emotional about it.

"I cried at the end! It wasn't anything particular that happens," he said. "You have to remember, I've done eight years of it. I think, no one really cares about [Game of Thrones] more than us."
