Gotham star Robin Lord-Taylor has just confirmed that we would see him transforming into the full iconic Penguin character in the upcoming season 5 of the crime/drama series.

The Oswald Cobblepot actor says that fans should expect to see the "Penguin that we all know and love" in upcoming episodes.

But whether that would be full-on outfit with a top hat, tuxedo and a monocle, we're yet to find out.

Speaking on the The Wendy Williams Show, Robin said: "We jump forward at the end of the season so we actually get a glimpse of the Penguin that we all know and love.

"I was talking to our costume designer I was saying like, I don’t want him to be like a cartoon, like, I was thinking like the blueberry girl from Willy Wonka!

"I didn’t want that kind of look. So we went with something a little more monstrous, there’s a hunch on his back… He’s becoming a monster," he added.

Previously, the show's producer Danny Cannon has revealed that the final season will serve as an entire reboot of the series after season 4's twists and turns.

He said at the time, per ComicBook.com: "The cataclysmic event that happens in the last three episodes [of season four] not only will change Gotham. It not only combines so many characters that you don't think will co-operate with each other, but it changes the face of Gotham forever, so that season five, it's almost a reboot and a different show."

Gotham's season 5 has already been released to US fans (January 3) and UK viewers can expect for the episodes to arrive this summer 2019.

Gotham airs on Fox in the US and E4 in the UK.
