It turns out Jon Snow does at least know something, because Game of Thrones' Kit Harington has been speaking about the huge scale of season 7.

Chatting to ABC News, Kit revealed that the penultimate season – which will premiere this July – "has so much more ambition" than the instalments before it.

Insisting that he wants the show to go out "with a bang" (let's face it, don't we all?), Kit added that the future of Thrones "has to go into places TV hasn't been".

And by the sounds of the scale of season 7, we reckon GoT has managed to deliver on that front, because despite its shorter run, things are expected to be more epic than ever.

"There are [fewer] episodes this year, so they spent more money on those episodes," Kit explained. "So, the whole scale of it is up."

While yesterday's (March 9) brand new teaser didn't actually show us anything from the upcoming season, it did foreshadow one of the greatest battles in TV history.

Forget Battle of the Bastards – Jon Snow has more pressing things to warn us of: "The same thing is coming for all of us," he says in the new trailer.

"There's only one war that matters. The great war – and it is here."

With actors left, right and centre teasing "absolute chaos" and stories "crashing down" in season 7, all we can really say is: hurry the hell up, July – we need winter to come, and we need it now.

Game of Thrones returns to Sky Atlantic in the UK on July 17, and on HBO in the US on July 16.
