Government agrees to look at helping Nuneaton Town FC to find hometown ground
A government minister has agreed to look at helping Nuneaton Town Football Club to find a new hometown ground. The club replaced the old Nuneaton Borough FC, which collapsed at the end of last year.
But, as Nuneaton Town FC has no ground to call their own, they currently have to use the home of Bedworth United - the Oval - in the neighbouring town.
Earlier today (November 28) in the House of Commons, Stephanie Peacock, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the department for culture, media and sport, has agreed to look into the situation. It came after Nuneaton 's MP Jodie Gosling raised a question on the importance of grassroots football in the town, not only the 'Boro but also Nuneaton Griff.
She asked the minister if she would meet to discuss the current situation involving Nuneaton Town FC. "While we appreciate the hospitalities, we would like to meet with ministers to talk about how to bring football home to Nuneaton."
