Government Jets Bombard Opposition-Held Houla in Homs Province

Government jets bombarded the opposition-held town of Houla, in Syria’s Homs governorate, on Monday, April 24, with large explosions captured on video by a local activist.

Houla made international headlines in 2012 after 108 people were killed in a massacre in the town. The UN described the massacre as a war crime, and said there were “reasonable grounds to believe the perpetrators of the crime… were government forces and Shabiha members.” The Shabiha are a pro-government militia group.
