A digital, worldwide tribute has been paid for missing British backpacker Grace Millane after a body was found believed to be her.

People have been posting images of skylines, sunsets and sunrises in a digital vigil for the Essex young woman.

Detectives investigating the murder of Ms Millane in New Zealand said they had found a body believed to be that of the 22-year-old on Sunday.

Police said officers found a body in a forest about 10 metres from the edge of a country road, on the western outskirts of Auckland.

Her brother, Declan Millane, posted a heart-breaking tribute to his sister on social media, as he wrote the lyrics out from song You Are My Sunshine.

As well as Mr Millane’s tribute, people from all over the world are posting images, accompanied by the hashtag #herlightourlove.

Among those to post an image was the hockey club from the University of Lincoln, where Ms Millane completed her studies.

The hockey club posted a picture of Ms Millane’s “favourite spot” in Lincoln, during a sunset.

Scores of people from New Zealand, where Ms Millane was when she went missing, also posted images in support.

A 26-year-old man, who has not been named by police, was charged with murder on Sunday. He will appear at Auckland District Court on Monday and remains in custody.

Ms Millane went missing on December 1 while in New Zealand as part of a year-long worldwide backpacking trip.
