Graduation, Aisle 4: Grocery Store in Kentucky Holds Ceremony for High School Seniors

A grocery store in Russell Springs, Kentucky, held a graduation ceremony for six high school seniors who work at the store after their official ceremony was cancelled.

Russell Springs Priceless Foods manager Cody Reeder shared this video of the staff members, some wearing caps and gowns, as they collected “diplomas” the store created for them.

Reeder told Storyful he felt bad for the staff members who couldn’t get to experience the regular graduation. "So that’s when I got with my team at the store and put together a plan to do something for the seniors. We agreed on doing a small graduation ceremony for them.

“We went and got balloons, and I made them ‘diplomas,’ we got them cupcakes, cards, and gifts,” Reeder said. “We wanted to make them feel special, and have them something to look forward to during this unprecedented time.”

The six seniors who work at the store are Jonah Popplewell, Sam Ellis, Garrett Gosser, Elijah Johnson, Trystan Downey, and Xander Johnson. “Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication not only towards your education but also your work here at Priceless,” a post on the store’s Facebook page read. “We couldn’t do it without you guys!” Credit: Cody Reeder via Storyful
