A graffiti outbreak at Darwen Market led to a major clean-up operation in 1988.

The distinctive skylights above the market were targeted by vandals who spray painted slogans and tags on to the building.

In a bid to prevent more damage, market officials invested in anti-graffiti paint which was applied to the stonework under the skylights.
