Newly-appointed Crimean prosecutor general Natalia Poklonskaya is to become the main character in the forthcoming modified version of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) game, which will be based on the recent unrest in Ukraine. Poklonskaya, who has recently become an internet sensation largely because of her looks, will fight against crimes in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in the gaming version which is currently being developed, said an unnamed computer entertainment company, according to Voice of Russia. The programmers – Artur Dederyants and Pavel Afanasiyev - have insisted that Poklonskaya's looks have little to do with the choice to keep her a key character in the game. "Natalia Poklonskaya has gained popularity in social networks over a very short period of time as a most charming and beautiful girl. More »

  • GTA 5: Players Remake Horror Flick 'The Purge: Anarchy'
GTA 5: Players Remake Horror Flick 'The Purge: Anarchy' Sun, Mar 23, 2014

Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) continues to hog the limelight for strange reasons as discerning gamers of the franchise have pulled off a remake of the upcoming horror flick, The Purge: Anarchy, in a game trailer featuring the video footage from GTA 5 and GTA Online. The central plot of the movie revolves around a couple who inadvertently get trapped outside their home in the middle of the Purge (those twelve hours when crimes go legal). With a lot in common between the movie and GTA 5 as far as their protagonists wreaking havoc on a city is concerned, the remake of the horror flick is just understated as it is far easier to recreate The Purge: Anarchy than remaking the popular Skyfall train scene. As Cinemablend reports, the GTA Online parody still captures the gist of Purge: Anarchy: "strangers are d***s and they'll run you down with dirtbikes if you give them the chance. More »

GTA Online: Video Shows Real Life Car Jacking as Seen in GTA 5, Not Parody Thu, Mar 20, 2014

While YouTube has seen several amusing videos of actors trying to serve up dramatic examples of GTA or Grand Theft Auto in real life, very few of those attempts are as real as the one featured. A YouTuber has picked up a video of a man in Colorado hijacking cars recklessly like players would on Rockstar's ultra successful GTA 5 and its multiplayer mode, GTA Online. What is amazing is that the car-jacker in the video has performed acts that are seldom seen outside a GTA game. This includes the hijack-and-drive-off-road move that many of us have grown up performing on GTA games. More »

GTA 5 PC Beta Keys Surface Online via Fake Test Emails Thu, Mar 20, 2014

Rockstar Games is yet to confirm an official PC release for GTA 5, while hackers and cyber-criminals are allegedly capitalising on the situation by sending fake emails with GTA 5 PC beta test keys to prey on unsuspecting fans of the game.   Consequently, security software company Trend Micro has cautioned prospective GTA 5 PC gamers to avoid downloading or opening such emails as it has detected potentially dangerous malware known as "TROJ_FORUCON" within the email attachment. Here is what Trend Micro explains on its website regarding the GTA 5 PC Beta spam (check the screenshot of email below): It has .ZIP file attachment (promo_code.zip), which actually contains a malware detected by Trend Micro as TROJ_FORUCON."
