The Grand Tour season two is almost upon us, and the folks at Amazon have gone and gotten us all excited with a brand new preview clip.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May audition a new Stig test driver (well, anyone is better than 'The American'), though two out of the three have no clue who he is.

"If he can drive a car like he can play a guitar…" Hammond says, before May disputes him by falsely noting: "That's the guy from Dunkirk."

"Do you seriously not know who that is?" Clarkson asks as his choice of driver approaches them.

After a few awkward introductions and wrong names, he's finally revealed to be "Australia's second best" former Formula 1 racing driver, Mark Webber.

However, he doesn't prove as impressive as you would imagine after a slow run in a Mercedes, leading the others to doubt Clarkson's pick test driver.

"We'll be in touch," Hammond says. Ah, those dreaded words.

Clarkson recently opened-up about the making of season two, addressing the fact that the three presenters were each hospitalised during filming.

"It is astonishing that all three of us had been confined to hospital beds in the space of six months," he said. "Except, of course, it isn't astonishing because we are now very old and starting to disintegrate."

The presenter also reflected on the aspects of season one that didn't quite work, explaining: "Then there's our tent studio. We all know certain things didn't work in the last run, so they've gone and in their place will be exciting new stuff."

"All of which will be announced just as soon as I've thought of it."

The Grand Tour season 2 is released on Amazon Prime on Friday, December 8 2017.
