Grandad recovering at Glasgow hospital after falling ill while on holiday in Spain
A Glasgow grandad who fell seriously ill while on holiday in Spain is back receiving treatment in his home city after his family launched a desperate appeal.
Jimmy had been enjoying his holiday in Benidorm when he fell ill. He was rushed to a private hospital on January 19 where he began receiving treatment. However, due to cost, his family had to transport him to a public hospital in Alicante.
The 85-year-old Rangers fan was told he had sepsis and potential spinal damage from the infection, leaving his family desperate to get him home.

His family launched a fundraiser to try and get him home to Glasgow. It was shared by Dennistoun boozer Bristol Bar and ended up raising over £11,000.
In an update on Sunday, February 2, granddaughter Sarah Glass confirmed that her beloved grandparent is back in Glasgow, where he is continuing to receive treatment.
She said: "I have switched off the donations tab on the Gofundme as we managed to get Granda repatriated safely to the Glasgow hospital, all thanks to the amazing people that's supported us.
"The whole family are completely overwhelmed by everyone's generosity, from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU no words can describe how grateful we are.
"My Granda is getting stronger everyday and receiving the best care by our amazing NHS.
"Thank you, forever grateful."
