Grandmother Gets Hug Through Plastic Sheet After Months in Isolation

An Irish grandmother has felt the embrace of her family for the first time in two months thanks to a device her grandson made using cling film, plastic bags, and bits of an old trampoline.

Kilkenny teenager Jody Brooks lives across the road from his grandmother, but has not been able to hug her since Ireland introduced strict coronavirus lockdown measures in March.

“We live across the street from granny May and so it has been very hard to see her only through a window and not have the usual chats at the kitchen table with a nice cup of tea,” his older sister, Emma, told Storyful.

“Yesterday morning, Jody surprised us all by making this device from some cling film, two plastic bags and steel poles from an old trampoline.”
