Grantham car park 'no right turn' mystery solved after motorists left confused
A mystery has been solved at a Lincolnshire car park which left many motorists baffled. The Isaac Newton Shopping Centre Car Park in Grantham has become a hot topic the town due to its 'confusing' road signs and markings.
The car park is in a busy location in the centre of town and is used by many, including Morrisons shoppers. When exiting the car park onto the A52, motorists are faced with a sign indicating that no right turn is allowed.
However, there is a road marking just before the exit which some drivers believe means that a right turn is in fact allowed. Local residents and motorists voiced their confusion as many people continue to turn right, causing traffic issues.

One person said: "It's quite a thing to see how much traffic is held up by people turning right at this junction. As if traffic wasn't bad enough."
Another said: "The sign saying no right turn has been up for months but hardly anyone actually sees or takes notice of it."
The car park operator Savills has cleared up the confusion and confirmed that the road markings are actually for a right turn within the car park itself, and not onto the A52. A spokesperson said: "Savills, as managing agent of Sir Isaac Newton Shopping Centre, can confirm that signage directing traffic to exit via the left out of the car park has been installed to alleviate traffic congestion when leaving the centre.
"This measure has already proven to help reduce wait times and improve traffic flow at peak times." The operator confirmed that although the sign is in place advising motorists against turning right, those who do choose to turn right will not be fined.
