Grass Fire Shuts Down Interstate 680 in Bay Area

A fast-moving grass fire reported on Monday afternoon, July 6, jumped Interstate 680 just north of the Benicia-Martinez Bridge and shut down traffic, according to reports.

The Clock Tower fire was reported around 1 pm and spread over more than four acres along the highway, threatening structures and forcing the Union Pacific Railway to shut down train traffic, according to reports.

The fire caused severe traffic delays on I-680, according to the California Highway Patrol.
