A patch of Leicestershire grazing land could be concreted over to make way for new homes. Plans have been submitted to Blaby District Council by applicant Maxi Property Developments Limited for land north of Sycamore Way, in Littlethorpe.

The 1.43 hectare site is equivalent to just over two full-sized football pitches. The developer is seeking permission to build 46 homes there, made up of 32 open market homes and 14 affordable houses.

The applicant has requested outline approval only, meaning the scheme would be considered in principle, with the concrete details to be decided through a later application. A separate planning application is also being considered to build 155 homes on land off Oak Road in Littlethorpe, which is around a minute's walk from this development. A decision is expected on that plan by Thursday, October 3.

If the Sycamore Way scheme is approved, the 32 market homes would be made up of 22 one-bed flats, as well as seven two-bed and three three-bed houses. The affordable properties would comprise of eight one-bed flats, and three two-bed and three three-bed houses.

The main vehicle access to the site would be off Sycamore Way, documents show. Some 62 parking spaces are suggested for the scheme. The applicant also said each home would have one electric vehicle charging point, as well as space for bicycles either in the form of sheds or garages.

The site is an easy journey to Leicester city, according to Maxi Property Developments. Additionally, Narborough Train Station is around a 600m walk away, the company added.

A public consultation on the scheme runs until Tuesday, October 15, and can be found on the council's planning portal. Eight objections to the scheme have already been submitted. A decision is expected by Wednesday, December 11.
