After 10 weeks, the Great British Bake Off 2020 is finally drawing to a close on Tuesday as the 12 bakers have been whittled down to three.

Laura, Peter and Dave are the trio who have made it to the last leg of the contest, with one of them certain to win the coveted cake stand trophy in the finale.

Baker Hermine narrowly missed out after disappointing judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith in Patisserie Week with her elimination following two Star Baker wins in a row.

Peter managed to triumph in the penultimate challenge of the week and was awarded the Star Baker title as well as a Hollywood handshake.

Meanwhile, Dave was also the recipient of high praise as Hollywood noted how much he’d improved.

Laura found herself at risk of going home after coming last in a difficult Technical and her chocolate mirror glaze not going to plan in the Showstopper.

Although she made it through, not everyone watching at home was happy with the decision.

The contestant found herself targeted by trolls on social media, with Hollywood stepping in to defend her and to remind viewers that he and Leith judge each week on a standalone basis.

His comments came after Laura said she had experienced "a rough 24 hours" following the airing of the episode and urged people to be kind.

As it stands, Laura and Dave have been named Star Baker once compared to Peter's two titles although it remains to be seen if he’ll have the edge over his fellow contestants.

The result of the finale, which has been pre-recorded, lies solely in the hands of the judges. But who do you think should be joining the Bake Off Hall of Fame this year?

The Great British Bake Off airs tonight at 8pm on Channel 4.
