Great British Bake Off: Channel 4 hoping to secure Taylor Swift as a judge

We are willing to bet that Channel 4 HQ is a pretty stressful place to be right now, with the company facing backlash after nicking The Great British Bake Off from BBC One and consequently losing three out of the show’s four big stars.

Erm, yeah, it was pretty awkward.

Presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins were the first to shun the money and quit the show, with judge Mary Berry quickly following suit. However, despite his co-star’s fierce loyalty to the Beeb, judge Paul Hollywood opted to stay on – signing a big money, three-year contract with Channel 4.

Unfortunately, that leaves the production company with absolutely huge shoes to fill, and as they look for new judges and hosts, a rather famous name has been thrown into the mix in the form of Taylor Swift.

Yes, actual global superstar, Taylor Swift.

Although unlikely, there is method to the company’s madness, with the 26-year-old singer being a keen baker herself and admitting that she watched Bake Off regularly.

Taylor could probably also do with salvaging her reputation after suffering a rather public fall from grace when Kim Kardashian exposed her as a liar and her ex-boyfriend, Calvin Harris, called her out on Twitter for trying to “bury” him within a couple of weeks of eachother.

She has since been keeping a very low profile, although she should probably be expecting a call from Channel 4 soon, as a source told the Daily Star: “Taylor loves Bake Off, adores Mary and Paul Hollywood and has connections to the producers.

“If they got her on board it would make it an international hit with huge appeal to the broadcasters, especially in the United States.

“Landing Taylor will take a huge pay cheque, but the stakes are so high a few million more won’t make a difference.

“It may seem like the show’s in turmoil, but Love’s top brass don’t plan to go to Channel 4 and die. They have lofty ambitions and feel this is their chance.”

Neither Love Productions or Channel 4 have commented on the speculation.
