Great British Bake Off fans were touched as the fabulous five paid tribute to eliminated baker Jon by wearing Hawaiian shirts.

Ditching their usual attire, the bakers wore the loud shirts to remember the Welshman show as given the boot after Vegan Week, missing out on the quarter-final.

Ruby, Kim-Joy, Rahul, Briony and Manon all walked into the tent sporting their one-week-only look while the judges and hosts joked that they had “missed the memo”

And viewers couldn’t handle the sweet gesture, quickly rushing to social media to discuss the close bond that appears to have emerged within the group.

One wrote: “*sobs* OMG, they're all in Hawaiian shirts for John. I can't take it. #GBBO.”

While another said: “I approve of the Hawaiian shirt tribute to the late, lamented Jon #GBBO.”

“I’m due crying at the fact the bakers are all wearing Hawaiian shirts cause Jon got put out last week. I want friends like the bake off guys #GBBO,” commented somebody else.

Others said they weren’t “emotionally prepared” for the honour as some described it as “too much to handle”.

During the quarter-final, the five remaining bakers took part in the first ever Danish Week to try make it through another week.

The Great British Bake Off continues Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
