Great British Bake Off Set For TWO New Christmas Specials

Mix Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood with some cake baking creations, and then stir in some Christmas cheer, and you have the recipe for the best television news – ever.

That’s right; Christmas has arrived early for Great British Bake Off fans as the BBC are reportedly lining up a feast of festive season specials.

In addition to the heavily anticipated seventh series, a Yuletide version of the hugely popular baking competition will air in the lead up to the holiday period, as a replacement for the ‘Christmas Masterclass’ show.

Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood will be back alongside presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins – with four legendary bakers from GBBO past returning for three festive-themed challenges.

“What a treat to bring two Great British Bake Off specials to BBC One this Christmas,” said BBC content director Charlotte Moore. “Mary, Paul, Mel and Sue are the perfect recipe for the festive season.”

We can only imagine the chaos as contestants attempt to make extreme gingerbread houses, perfectly cylindrical chocolate Yule logs, and turn tipsy on boozed-up Chrismas cakes – all while avoiding a soggy bottom.

As the show’s contract is set to run out shortly after the specials air, this could be the Bake Off’s swansong on the BBC – with rivals (including ITV) reportedly jumping at the chance to secure the award-winning show.

One thing is almost certain though – the show will remain on TV, so we can still have our cake and eat it too.

The new (regular) series of The Great British Bake Off is expected to air on the BBC next month, with the Christmas specials slated for December.
