The Great British Bake Off spoilers follow.

The Great British Bake Off has bid farewell to another baker following an eventful '70s Week, with Illiyin saying goodbye to the tent after a "wobbly week."

Tuesday’s (November 12) episode saw the remaining five contestants compete in the quarterfinal of the 2024 series.

Following the Showstopper challenge, in which bakers were tasked with making a gateau, Georgie was named Star Baker after coming first in the Technical challenge and delivering a "particularly good" Showstopper.

During the Showstopper, Illiyin's "wonky" gateau fell apart, and despite judges calling her flavours "delicious," Illiyin was sent home.

Taking to X following Illiyin's exit, fans shared their disappointment at her departure saying they were "gutted" to see her go.

"Oh no, gutted. Illiyin has been such an amazing baker, I’ve really enjoyed watching her on the show. But she can definitely hold her head up high to get this far," one fan wrote.

"Such a shame it wasn't Illyin's week. She's been a wonderful competitor in this year's show. Thrilled for Georgie, though, for getting star baker at last. Much deserved. I can't believe there are only two weeks left. This show always ends too soon," another penned.

Sharing her own thoughts on her departure letter, Illiyin penned on X: "Well, the time has come for me to leave the Tent. I leave with memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life and a deeper understanding of myself and what I am capable of. There are lessons in everything and truly Bake Off has been a massive one.

"It has been a lesson in patience, determination and self-belief. I will always be grateful. Before GBBO I had built a beautiful online community of like-minded individuals who I have had the privilege to support in their difficult post-natal experiences and other forms of advocacy

She continued: "Those very people – along with my family and wider community – have cheered me on through this GBBO journey and I will always be thankful. I hope I haven't disappointed any of you, I really did give it my all, but competition is fierce and skill is finite!

"I am a firm believer in 'what's for me won't miss me' and this was for me, what a joy! I'm excited for what is next in this new chapter and to welcome more of you into my community. We'll laugh, learn and grow together. It's a great time. Until then, all the best. Illiyin xxx"

The Great British Bake Off and its spin-off Bake Off: An Extra Slice both air on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
