The Great Celebrity Bake Off made for dramatic viewing last night (31 March) after Joe Sugg fainted in the tent due to cutting his finger.

The former Strictly contestant was taking part on the show for Stand Up to Cancer with This Morning's Alison Hammond, The One Show's Alex Jones and singer James Blunt.

The celebrities were tasked with a technical challenge of making 12 identical tray bakes which when put together, had to make a design or picture. Mere minutes into the task, Joe had sliced his finger while peeling an apple, and all chaos ensued.

While awaiting medical attention, Joe began to feel dizzy and said: "I've just sliced my finger open really bad, help. Ouch. That's literally the first thing I do. There's always one."

He then suggested that he may need to go outside before fainting at his station.

Sing James remarked: "Oh dear."

In keeping with the episode's dramatic theme, the YouTube star managed to turn his fortune around after he was later crowned Star Baker thanks to his incredible Showstopper.

The celebrities had to construct a scene using biscuits that represented an alternative career they would have liked to have gone into - and Joe created a very neat representation of an archaeological dig.

Fans declared him 'the come back kid' of the competition on Twitter after his win.

Strictly dancer and Joe's girlfriend Dianne Buswell also congratulated him on Twitter, writing: "Just another little thing to add to his amazingness @Joe_Sugg star baker go on you!!!"

Joe also impressed the judges with his horseradish sauce in the Yorkshire pudding round.

The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4.
