It wouldn't be the festive season without a bit of The Great British Bake Off – we mean, Christmas and cakes go hand-in-hand.

Well, the Channel 4 show has unveiled the details for its Christmas and New Year's specials, with a few familiar faces returning alongside Paul Hollywood, Prue Leith, Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding.

First up, The Great Christmas Bake Off will bring back 2017 contestants Liam Charles and Flo Atkins, as well as Jane Beedle and Andrew Smyth from 2016, as they all battle it out for Christmas Star Baker.

And things will take a bizarre turn as rock band The Darkness appear to perform their festive anthem 'Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End)'. Bake Off does love a good double entendre, after all.

As for The Great New Year's Bake Off, returning contestants will be 2014's Kate Henry, Dr Tamal Ray from 2015, 2016 champion Candice Brown and 2017 finalist Steven Carter-Bailey. Music will be provided by the London Gay Men's Chorus.

The latest series of Bake Off wrapped up in late October, with Rahul Mandal being crowned the winner after weeks of impressing the judges – and earning a fair share of Hollywood handshakes.

On top of the festive specials, plenty more Bake Off will be coming your way next year with a Stand Up to Cancer special series airing in the spring.

A number of famous faces will join the tent for the charity episodes, including Russell Brand, Rylan Clark-Neal, Caroline Flack and Georgia Toffolo.

The Great Christmas Bake Off will air at 8pm on Channel 4 on Christmas Day, and The Great New Year's Bake Off will air at 7.40pm on Channel 4 on New Year's Day.
