Great Homer Street closed after two children hit by car

A major road was closed this afternoon after two children were hit by a car. Emergency services were called to the junction of Great Homer Street and Kirkdale Road at around 3.50pm on Monday, October 14.

Merseyside Police confirmed two children had been hit by a car. They were taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, police said.

Great Homer Street was closed in both directions while the incident was dealt with. Multiple police cars and an air ambulance were seen at the scene. Arriva North West said its buses were being diverted via Scotland Road following the crash on Monday afternoon.

The police cordon was later taken down and the road was reopened but police remained at the scene. The ECHO has contacted Merseyside Police for more information.
