Great North Run 2024 travel and parking guide as road and Metro closures in place for race
The last thing people who've completed the Great North Run is traipsing for ages to get back to their car and, with that in mind, organisers have made sure there are various options available for people driving to and from the event, with a number of park and ride options available.
The world's biggest half marathon is back for a 43rd year in Sunday,. September 8, with tens of thousands of entrants, both elite athletes and fun runners, taking on the 13.1 mile route from Newcastle to South Shields, with crowds of spectators set to take to the streets to cheer them on.
Earlier this week road closures for the Great North Run 2024 were confirmed, as well as some temporary Metro closures, meaning that both runners could be looking at a bit of a travel nightmare this weekend.
