'The Greatest Adventure': Jeff Bezos to Go to Space

Blue Origin, the spaceflight company founded by Jeff Bezos, announced on June 7 that Bezos and his brother Mark would be part of the crew on the first human flight of their New Shepard rocket, planned for July 20.

The two brothers will be joined by the highest bidder in an auction that was running on Blue Origin’s website, the company said. As of June 8, the highest bid was $3,500,000, with the auction set to close on June 12. The proceeds would go to Blue Origin’s foundation, Club for the Future, “whose mission is to inspire future generations to pursue careers in STEM and to help invent the future of life in space.”

Jeff Bezos said: “Ever since I was five years old, I’ve dreamed of traveling to space. On July 20th, I will take that journey with my brother. The greatest adventure, with my best friend.”
