Roll up! Roll up! A Greatest Showman-inspired stage show is set to open in London.
Come Alive! The Greatest Showman Circus Spectacular, which is inspired by the 2017 movie, will see fans take their seats in a "700-seat Big Top where circus meets musical theatre in an epic Spectacular," according to the show's official website.
Due to open in September, the show will feature a brand new story inspired by the Hugh Jackman-led film, along with all the hit songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, including "This Is Me," "Rewrite the Stars," "A Million Dreams," "Tightrope" and "The Greatest Show."
According to The Times, the stage production will feature an “immersive” circus atmosphere with over 30 dancers, singers, actors, acrobats and jugglers. Circus stars from Cirque de Soleil are set to perform in the show, as well as musical theater talent from the West End.
“It definitely bucked everybody’s expectations by being this cult hit in England,” Creative Director Simon Hammerstein said of the 2017 movie, per The Times. “It trended particularly well in England and the English have really embraced it which is why they [producers] said go to England. They really championed these songs. And hopefully we will find a home here.”

Hammerstein added that he wanted to recreate the excitement he had as a 12-year-old boy “walking around a circus and seeing a guy dressed as a butcher juggling knives, and thinking, 'Oh my God, it is so dangerous.' "
“We are not doing a dramatic musical version of the film but will be taking these songs, reordering them, bringing in new characters and setting the show today. We will be honoring the ancestors of that show but really telling a fresh story,” Hammerstein, the grandson of lyricist and librettist Oscar Hammerstein II — one half of Rodgers and Hammerstein — continued to the outlet.

The original movie, which stars Zac Efron, Zendaya, and Michelle Williams, tells the story of famed show businessman P.T. Barnum (played by Jackman) and his traveling circus.
“Every device will be responsible for processing the plot and story. So even if there is a thrilling circus act diversion there will be something in that which will be crucial to the character’s journey,” Hammerstein added. “We are really lucky to have the [film music] score. But do I want them [the audience] to sing along to the point where they drown out the show? I don’t know. We are going to find out.”
Priority booking opens Wednesday, July 17, at 10 a.m. local time, before tickets go on sale to the public Thursday, July 18 at 10 a.m. For more information, visit the production's website.
