New 'green corridor' crossing plan to go-ahead for busy Bedworth road
A new 'green corridor' crossing plan is set to go-ahead on a busy Bedworth road. Warwickshire County Council is forging ahead with its proposal for a toucan crossing on the B4113, Sergeant Simon Valentine Way near High Street.
It forms part of a 'green corridor' which has been on the cards for some time to provide easier access to the park on foot and also on wheels. This is to help encourage more people to use the new Bedworth Physical Activity Hub, which is due to be built to replace the old leisure centre.
But before the works for the new crossing can start, the county council has launched a public consultation. It gives people the chance to view the plan and have their say.

"The existing footways will be widened and street furniture will be relocated to provide additional space to accommodate the shared use facility," the report explains. "There will be benefits to pedestrians, cyclists and disabled users through widening and resurfacing the footway and improved signing.
"The provision of a shared use footway / cycle track will also improve safety as pedestrians and cyclists heading to or from the High Street will not be required to cross a ‘B’ road at an uncontrolled crossing point."
Details about the plan can be found online at here and any enquiries relating to the proposals can be made by email to louisevarney@warwickshire.gov.uk.
Any objections or representations to the proposals should include the subject heading 'Bedworth Crossing', The deadline for any objections and representations is October 11.
