Green Day Lead Singer Says He Will Renounce US Citizenship

Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day’s lead singer, said at a concert in London on Friday, June 24, that he would renounce his US citizenship.

Armstrong’s words came after the US Supreme Court voted to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide.

“You’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days,” Armstrong told the audience.

Armstrong is not the only musician to vocally oppose the Supreme Court’s decision. According to social media posts, singer Olivia Rodrigo condemned the ruling during her set at the Glastonbury Festival this weekend. Credit: a andd via Storyful
