People can grab a pint and a burger for just £10 at their local Greene King pub this week. The offer comes after new research revealed the paring as the nation's ultimate food and drink combo.

Around 42% of people questioned admitted it was their favourite snack and drink. A pint and burger surpassed traditional favourites like cheese and wine, and tea and biscuits.

To celebrate the news, Greene King has launched the £10 beer and a burger deal until Monday, October 28. There are more than 50 Greene King venues dotted around the Merseyside region with a total of 645 sites nationwide.

Lime Street Central is available for shoppers stopping by the city centre with Willow Bank in Smithdown a just a short journey away. Further afield is Park Hotel in Southport and Cross House in Formby, with plenty more sporadically dotted around the region. You can find your nearest pub here.

This comes as the nation embraces a debate over whether burgers should be eaten with hands or a knife and fork, with former Royal butler Grant Harrold claiming we have been eating them "all wrong" for decades. According to the data, 63% of people always use their hands, compared to 13% of the nation who opt for a knife and fork, while around a quarter have no culinary preference.

Mr Harrold, a member of the Royal household for Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III, and Prince William, says it’s “proper etiquette” to use utensils when chowing down on a burger. Despite his burger-eating advice, the figures show people are still around five times more likely to eat one with their hands than with a knife and fork.
