Greggs fans rejoice as Iceland brings back favourite you can't find in bakeries
Greggs lovers have declared "shut up and take my money" after Iceland brought back a favourite to its freezers - that you can't find in Greggs bakeries themselves.
The frozen food giant is home to an exclusive Greggs range that shoppers can bake and enjoy at home, from the beloved Newcastle-born bakery's iconic Sausage Rolls to Chicken Bakes and Sausage and Bean Melts. But the latest addition to the offering has sparked particular excitement among vegan Greggs fans with the comeback of a bake that has been axed from Greggs stores.
The Vegan Steak Bake is now available to buy once again in Iceland supermarkets, priced at £3.50 for a pair, meaning fans of the Quorn-filled pastry can enjoy it for the first time in a while since the vegan favourite was discontinued by Greggs once again after being brought back for a limited time only in 2024. The news was met with delight on social media this week after being shared by vegan food pages.

"Oh yes! Been missing these so much!" one Facebook user declared after seeing that the Vegan Steak Bake was back at Iceland, while someone else branded it: "Best news of 2025!"
The Vegan Steak Bake has received somewhat mixed reviews from Iceland shoppers so far, however, with some saying they can't get enough of the taste while others complained that cooking it at home simply didn't compare to picking up a freshly baked one from Greggs.
One person who tried them said: "Great tasty bakes, easy to cook and for a quick snack. Tastes just as good as the ones in the shops."
And another praised in the reviews section: "They are absolutely delicious. The pastry is lovely and crisp and crumbly. The filling is exquisite. Thoroughly recommend. Perfect for dinner at home with mixed veg."
A third Iceland customer raved: "Brilliant product! So tasty and so convenient - Greggs in the comfort of your own home." But others disagreed, with someone else remarking: "These don't taste anywhere near as good as the Greggs gold dust."
Could the latest addition to the Iceland line-up spell a change in the Greggs menu - and see the triumphant return of the Vegan Steak Bake? Nothing has been announced so far, but the Gosforth-born bakery chain previously told customers that it had taken their wishes into account in its decision to bring the bake back to its shelves this time last year.
"We saw your petitions and heard you loud and clear… everyone's favourite vegan bake will be back on the shelves faster than you can say, 'Thank flake for that!'" the bakery said as it confirmed the return of the Vegan Steak Bake in January 2024 - so the reaction to the bakes being available in Iceland might just be enough to influence the head honchos.
In the meantime, there are plenty of other vegan options available in Greggs stores, from the popular Vegan Sausage Roll and Vegan Sausage Breakfast Roll to the Spicy Vegetable Curry Bake. Meanwhile, Iceland also offers an exclusive Greggs party food spread that can only be found in the supermarket, including mini sausage, steak, and cheese and onion rolls.
This week, Greggs announced sales had topped £2bn for the first time. Despite this, the bakery chain have increased prices on some items, including the iconic sausage roll.
Customers in the North East reacted to the increase, which has rose from 85p in 2016, to £1.30 today.
