Greggs is a culinary national treasure, there's no denying that, but where it falls down is its limited availability.

A 24-hour restaurant to satisfy our late-night drunken steak-bake cravings would be amazing, right?

Well, this Greggs in Birmingham went one better than opening an all-night store – it turned itself into a club for the night instead. And it looked incredible.

One guy even dressed as a pasty, for god's sake.

For reasons we're not quite clear about, Greggs granted one University of Birmingham student her wish of throwing a back-to-uni party in one of its stores, complete with free baked goods.

The three-hour transformation saw the shop kitted out with a sound system, confetti cannons, inflatable doughnuts and pizza slices, and even free food.

So, erm, does anyone fancy a pilgrimage to Birmingham?

Now that the nation's favourite bakery has branched out into party planning, we can accept the recent price hike of one of its beloved creations.

Earlier this month Greggs dropped a bombshell on its customers, revealing that the price of its sausage roll was to increase to 90p. Scandalous stuff, we know.

Not that we're going to complain too much – after all, it might just jeopardise our chance of seeing the newly-announced home delivery and drive-thru service come to our city.
