Yahoo News Gremlins 3 is a step closer as script is finished
Gremlins 3 has moved a step closer to being made as Chris Columbus has confirmed he has written a script.
The last we heard about the threequel was from original star Zach Galligan who said that it would be a sequel and not a remake, as well as teasing that it was a "Force Awakens type sequel" with old and new characters.
We've now had an update from writer Chris Columbus who revealed that the third movie will return to the darker tone of the original movie. "I'm really proud of the script. It is as twisted and dark as anything, so we'll see," he told SlashFilm.
"It's always a budgetary conversation when we're going to shoot it. I wanted to go back to the really twisted sensibility of the first movie. I found that was a very easy place for me to fall back into and start writing again so hopefully we'll see that movie soon."
But should we be worried about the beloved Gizmo? Apparently, the new movie will address the dilemma that killing Gizmo will stop any more evil mogwai being born.
"That comes up in the movie, certainly," Columbus explained. "I think it probably is a good idea to be honest with you. Too many people are dying."
Surely not?!
We'll have to wait and see when Gremlins 3 is finally released at some point in the future.
