Gretna Green support for Paddy McGuinness
Staff at Gretna Green Ltd, customer and local residents, welcomed Paddy McGuinness to the historic Old Toll Bar – known as the first and last house in Scotland – on Day 3 of his 300-mile charity ride for BBC’s Children in Need.
Crossing the border and arriving in Dumfries and Galloway to the sound of bagpipes and a gathering of enthusiastic supporters, Paddy was greeted with cheers.
During a live BBC2 broadcast from the Old Toll Bar, Sir Tom Hunter of the Hunter Foundation announced an extraordinary pledge to match donations up to £2 million - increasing it later to £3 million - bringing Paddy to tears.
