For the People is the Grey's Anatomy off-shoot that takes us out of the hospital and into the courtroom.

And after a successful round in pilot phase the show is headed for TV, with Britt Robertson getting top billing.

Deadline reports that Robertson will play the lead role of Sandra in the Shondaland production, a public defender (that's an attorney who represents people who can't afford one) who wanted to become a lawyer after a grave wrongdoing that her family faced.

She replaces Britne Oleford, who played Sandra in the pilot version of For the People.

Previous roles for Robertson include parts in the film Tomorrowland alongside George Clooney, where she played Casey Newton, as well as Under the Dome as Angie McAlister and more recently Netflix original comedy Girlboss as Sophia Marlowe.

For the People is written by Paul William Davies, and the show is set in the Southern District of New York Federal Court, aka "The Mother Court".

Robertson's character will be surrounded by other new lawyers who represent either sides of cases, as they are pitted against high-profile legal suits. Expect drama to play out as their personal lives intertwine.

And it's not the only spin-off to come from Grey's Anatomy, as there is another one in the works – currently unnamed – that will follow the lives of those working in a fire station.
