Grey's Anatomy stars Ellen Pompeo and TR Knight have reunited at a Black Lives Matter protest in Los Angeles.

The stars were spotted in the crowds during a peaceful demonstration that was held in West Hollywood on Wednesday (June 3) – one of many protests that have been taking place in America and across the world following the death George Floyd.

Floyd died in police custody after a white police officer kneeled on his neck. The officer, Derek Chauvin, has since been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, while the three other officers present also face charges of aiding and abetting murder.

In the pictures from the protest, Ellen and TR can be seen taking a knee alongside the other protesters, while TR holds up a 'Black Lives Matter' sign.

Ellen also took to Instagram Live following the demonstration and reflected on how this protest compared to others that she'd been to, explaining that she'd never seen police or the National Guard with machine guns before.

"We're at a march for Black lives and we're here to talk about the fact that they matter, and there's machine guns and big ones and aggression," she said in the clip, which she later re-shared on Twitter.

"The cops weren't so aggressive, but their stance was aggressive. They're on rooftops, they're in cars, they're in tanks, and I haven't ever seen that show of force. I'm just wondering why that is?"

Ellen and TR starred as Meredith Grey and George O'Malley respectively in the ABC series' early seasons before TR Knight left the show in 2009.

The duo have remained close friends ever since and often meet up for reunions, including back in March this year when Ellen shared a photo of the two of them on Instagram alongside the caption: "Old friends are the BEST friends."

Their reunion this time places Ellen and TR among a number of other well known celebrities who have been showing their support for Black Lives Matter over the last week, including Friends star David Schwimmer and Fast & Furious star Dwayne Johnson.

Star Wars actor John Boyega also joined in a demonstration in London's Hyde Park, where he delivered a powerful speech to the crowds.

"I don't know if I'm going to have a career after this, but f**k that," he said.

"I need you to understand how painful this shit is. I need you to understand how painful it is to be reminded every day that your race means nothing and that isn't the case anymore, that was never the case anymore."
