Grimsby mortuary assistant wins award thanks to compassion given during baby loss

A Mortuary Assistant at Grimsby hospital has won an award for her work.

From her position at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby, Mortuary Assistant Lisa Wilson offers solace and reassurance to bereaved families, particularly those who have lost a young one. For her work, she has won a Healthcare Heroes Award.

Two families nominated Lisa as their 'Healthcare Hero' this year after suffering a baby loss; they commended her empathy and her commitment to helping parents and siblings bid farewell in a manner that suited them.

One family expressed they would forever be in awe of her, and that Lisa had become 'a part of the family'.

Earlier this year, the public was invited to submit their nominations for the award, and a panel of judges narrowed down the nominations to three finalists.

The recipient of the Healthcare Heroes Award, along with 14 other honours, were announced on Friday 13 September.
