Major roads in Grimsby town centre will close for one night while repair works are carried out.

The maintenance, which will replace the damaged granite sett ramps with tarmac construction and road markings, will take place around the junction of Town Hall Street and Victoria Street West.

The work is scheduled to begin late on Monday, November 4 and be completed the following morning. If the weather is unsuitable, this will be moved on to the next night.

To ensure the safety of contractors and enable the works to be carried out, a number of road closures will be in place between 9pm and 4am, along with other traffic management.

This is planned to be as follows:

  • Town Hall Street, between Victoria Street West and Town Hall Square - Road Closed.

  • Victoria Street West, between New Street and Frederick Ward Way – Road Closed.

  • Victoria Street West, between George Street and New Street – vehicle access maintained under marshal control.

  • New Street - temporary reversal of one way from Victoria Street West to Town Hall Street to exit from Victoria Street West.

  • Pasture Street, between Victoria Street West and East Street - Temporary two-way for vehicles to allow residents access to Upper Burgess Street.

During the works, on-street parking will be temporarily suspended on Victoria Street West, between Town Hall Street and Frederick Ward Way, to ensure all the road markings can be refreshed during the road closure. Footway access and access to emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the duration of the works.

North East Lincolnshire Council is carrying out the works with its delivery partner Equans.
