The gritters will be out on the Isle of Wight in the early hours of tomorrow morning (Wednesday), for the first time this season.

They will be in action at around 3am.

Island Roads said: "Please drive according to the weather conditions."

Parts of the country will be covered by a Met Office weather warning for snow and ice tomorrow, but the Isle of Wight is not included.

However, wintry showers are possible over the next few days and we are likely to get some freezing temperatures overnight and into tomorrow.

It could feel as cold as -4 Celsius at times, the Met Office says.

The Isle of Wight Met Service, meanwhile, has issued an advisory for cold weather and freezing conditions from Wednesday, at 6pm, though until Tuesday.
