GTA remains under rainfall warning as storm system moves into region
The Greater Toronto Area remains under a rainfall warning as a "moisture laden" system moves into the region, Environment Canada said on Tuesday.
Parts of the GTA could see in excess of 50 millimetres of rain, the federal weather agency said.
Rainfall is anticipated to continue through to Wednesday morning or afternoon before tapering off.
"The showers are expected to become more widespread and heavy at times tonight along with the risk for thunderstorms," Environment Canada said.
Showers on Wednesday morning are expected to become more isolated and ease off in intensity, the federal weather agency added.
"Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible," the warning continued.
