One of the most memorable of the many Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 mid and post-credits scenes wasn't a big teaser for the future of the MCU, but Chris Pratt's Star-Lord playing boring dad to a now-adolescent Groot.

Marvel Studios has revealed an extended version of the scene to celebrate the movie's home entertainment release, giving Peter Quill the chance to get even more dad-like.

That scene, it turns out, is set around the time of the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, which is set roughly four years after the events of Guardians 2.

After already treating us to adult and baby Groot, the sullen teenage version will feature in Joe and Anthony Russo's Infinity War, teaming the Guardians up with the Avengers to face down the threat of the big, purple space tyrant Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Guardians 2 featured a record five scenes after the credits began to roll. One featured the group of old Ravagers led by Sylvester Stallone's Sakar – basically a nod to the original, comic book Guardians – as well as a tease for Adam Warlock's introduction to the MCU.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on September 4.
