Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2's Michael Rooker has revealed that he'd be more than up for doing a prequel about everyone's favourite space pirate, Yondu.

We wonder if that means having his balls painted blue again...

Chatting to Digital Spy about the upcoming sequel, Michael said that he'd be happy to work on a prequel focusing on his character's back story "any time".

When we asked how he felt about director James Gunn calling the sequel "Yondu's film", Michael joked that although he would love to think it's his film, he can accept it's more of an ensemble piece.

"I like to think that every film is my film, but obviously it's not," he laughed. "It's very wonderful for him to say that, and we all know that it's everyone's.

"It's that ensemble thing that makes the magic in this," he added.

Another potential Guardians movie we're hoping is in the works is the Nebula and Gamora spin-off that Karen Gillan teased at last night's (April 24) premiere.

"I'm waiting for this [spin-off] because obviously this needs to happen. I don't know if it's ever going to happen, but I would love it," she enthused.

"I think it would be amazing to see a female-driven film like that. We have Captain Marvel coming up, which is quite exciting. We could do with some more females at the forefront."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is released in UK cinemas on April 28 and US cinemas on May 5.
