Guildford town centre Tesco Express closing for refit including 'new bakery fixtures'
A Guildford town centre Tesco Express is set to close for more than two weeks in order to undergo a refit. The Tesco Express on Bridge Street closed on Friday (November 15) and is set to reopen again on December 5.
The Tesco store is a very popular one among town goers due to its central position in Guildford town centre, being directly opposite the ever popular Rodboro Buildings Wetherspoons, and only a minutes walk in either direction from the Friary Shopping Centre and the Guildford Train Station.
A Tesco spokesperson has commented: “Our Guildford Bridge Express is temporarily closed whilst the store is refurbished. The store is having a refit to improve the shopping experience for customers which will include new bakery fixtures, improved shelving, and a re-decoration. We apologise for the inconvenience and look forward to welcoming customers back to the refreshed store when it re-opens in early December.”

Tesco describe its Express stores as the company's "smallest stores" which are "designed for maximum convenience". Guildford currently has two Tesco Express stores, on Bridge Street and the Railton Road store in Queen Elizabeth Park. For larger shopping trips, Guildford also has a Tesco Superstore in Westborough.
